A man was arrested for residential burglary and attempted sexual assault of a 90-year-old woman in an Orlando neighborhood.
According to the Orlando Police Department, the residential burglary and attempted sexual assault took place on Wilkinson Street in the Orwin Manor neighborhood. According to law enforcement, the elderly woman was attacked in her apartment at HarborChase in Dr. Phillips.
Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the Brookdale Senior Living facility at 8001 Pin Oak Dr. in reference to a suspicious person who matched the description of the suspect in the previous battery of the 90-year-old woman at HarborChase. When they arrived at Brookdale, OCSO deputies established a perimeter and just prior to searching the interior of the facility, the suspect exited a rear door and took off running. He was secured after a brief foot pursuit.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office arrested Deriko Hill on May 20th. Through investigative efforts, it was determined that Hill is the suspect in this attempted sexual battery case.
According to local law enforcement, he will be charged with Attempted Sexual Battery and Burglary of a Dwelling with a Battery.
During questioning overnight, Hill confessed to his involvement in both the OCSO and OPD cases according to law enforcement.
On April 15th at approximately 10:00pm, Orlando police officers responded to a report of a residential burglary in progress. The victim reported that an unknown man broke into her home and attempted to sexually assault her.
“No senior should ever be attacked in their home,” the Orange County Sheriff’s Office posted. “Detectives from both our agencies have worked vigilantly to find this suspect and ensure that he can’t hurt any other seniors in our community.”
