A major Orlando fentanyl trafficker was recently convicted.
An Orange County jury found 29-year-old Jahkor Jackson guilty of Trafficking in 28 Grams or More of Fentanyl, Conspiracy/Traffic in Methamphetamines 28 – 200 Grams and two counts of Trafficking in Methamphetamines >200 Grams after police dismantled the drug operation he ran in his Orlando home.
In 2021, a confidential informant provided the Orlando Police Department with information about Jackson’s narcotics operation at his home on Hope Circle in Orlando. In October 2021, officers conducted two undercover buys from Jackson. These controlled buys and surveillance at the home gave OPD probable cause to execute a search warrant on the property.
While executing the search warrant, officers positioned around the home observed Jackson running from the scene. He jumped a fence into a neighboring yard and ran toward the street. Detectives quickly detained him before he got away.
While searching the area, they found two boxes near the spot where Jackson jumped the fence. The boxes contained crystal meth and 364 grams of fentanyl.
The recovered fentanyl has an estimated street value of $39,000. With the typical user consuming just one-tenth of a gram at a time, this amount could have reached nearly 4,000 people if it had made it into the community.
During the trial, the jury reviewed evidence from conversations recorded during the controlled buys. They also heard testimony from OPD’s Special Enforcement Division, which served the search warrant on Jackson’s home. The evidence presented allowed the jury to link Jackson to the boxes officers discovered as he fled his home. The jury also reviewed text messages from Jackson’s phone where he discussed selling narcotics.
After a five-day trial, a jury found Jackson guilty of Trafficking in 28 Grams or More of Fentanyl, Conspiracy/Traffic in Methamphetamines >200 Grams and two counts of Trafficking in Methamphetamines >200 Grams. The judge set his sentencing hearing for December. Jackson faces a minimum mandatory sentence of 25 years in prison for Trafficking in 28 Grams or More of Fentanyl.
