Magic Headache

The Dwight Howard-Orlando Magic situation has gone from great to a joke.

Last off-season Howard decided to sign a year extension keeping him in Orlando through the upcoming season.

With Stan Van Gundy gone, a calculated moved on Gundy’s part by airing publicly that Howard wanted him out, then the firing of Otis Smith seemed as if ownership was pacifying their star center.

However, now the new General Manager Rob Hennigan and the organization are looking to trade the three-time defensive player of the year.

According to reports, Howard met with Hennigan in Los Angeles and the meeting ended with Howard asking for a trade to Brooklyn.

“It was a clearing of the air for both parties, but Howard wants out and that’s it,” sources tell Y!

Dwight also wants to nullify opt-in and become an unrestricted free agent this summer, with a source saying “no chance.”

Howard is claiming the Magic blackmailed him, promising him things they didn’t follow through on, convincing him to sign.

The NBA Players Association is considering taking legal action against the Magic in Howard’s defense.

The relationship between the two has been quoted as “irreparable” and a “divorce” is imminent.

Orlando doesn’t want to sign Brook Lopez going into the future, taking on his max deal, but rather get picks and other pieces moving forward.

For Howard to be in Brooklyn next year the Magic will need to find another suitor that’s high on Lopez to make that move.

Jameer Nelson opted out of his contract making him a free agent. The Los Angeles Lakers have shown interest.

Both Nelson and the Magic are hoping to come to an agreement keeping the point guard in the 407.
