Chase and Magic to refurbish court of Pinar Elementary School
In appreciation of the Orlando Magic’s Hispanic fan base, for the second consecutive year the team will wear “El Magic” jerseys for three home games beginning on March 8 when Orlando faces the Indiana Pacers at the Amway Center (tip off set for 7:00 p.m.). The team will don the “El Magic” jerseys to mark Noche Latina presented by Chase, at the March 8 game. The “El Magic” jerseys are part of the team and Chase’s continuing efforts to connect with the entire community of greater Central Florida. In addition to the March 8 Pacers game, the Magic will wear the jerseys at the March 22 Oklahoma City contest and the March 25 Miami matchup. Also, in celebration of the partners’ multicultural platforms, the Magic and Chase will unveil a refurbished court at Pinar Elementary on Saturday—a school with a large Hispanic population—to update the facilities built in 1976.

In addition to the “El Magic” jerseys, the team will honor the rich Hispanic culture of Central Florida at Noche Latina presented by Chase on March 8 during the Magic vs. Pacers matchup with a variety of activities at Amway Center. The Magic Dancers will perform a special Latin-themed routine and Latin dance, music and entertainment will be featured throughout the night including a special halftime performance.
The Magic and Chase are long time supporters of the Hispanic community of Central Florida. The “El Magic” jersey is just one way to honor Hispanic fans and the contributions of Latinos in the league and in our community. Another one of those efforts is Magic Spanish broadcaster, Joey Colon, in his 15th season with the team. Colon handles all Spanish radio broadcasts for the Magic. Colon stands as the only Puerto Rican broadcaster in the NBA today. Through the Champions of the Community partnership between Chase and Magic, the court refurbishment at Pinar Elementary will be celebrated with a basketball clinic and activities for local youth on Saturday, March 2. Students from the school will be special guests at the March 8 game, Noche Latina.
