City Seeks Your Green Vision

As part of Orlando’s sustainability initiative, Green Works Orlando, the City has launched a design competition, Envision 2040. The competition aims to engage the public to illustrate through drawings, renderings and pictures what a “greener” Orlando will look like in the future.

Envision 2040 provides an opportunity for professional, student, national and international designers to showcase their skills while promoting awareness about Orlando’s sustainability goals. Entries should illustrate the key areas of focus the City’s sustainability initiative is working to address, including:

  • Economy
  • Energy
  • Green building
  • Food
  • Transportation
  • Water
  • Livability
  • Solid Waste

WHEN:

Now through March 18, 2013 – Registration submission period. Registration forms must be emailed by 5 p.m. (EST) on March 18, 2013 to receive a Registration ID number.

April 15, 2013 – Entries are due by 5 p.m. (EST) on Monday, April 15, 2013. Submissions will be posted on the City of Orlando Green Works Orlando website for public input.

April 22 through April 26, 2013 – Jury review. Public’s Choice review.

May 2013 – Winners announced.

WHO:

Anyone 18 and older– local, national, and international – may enter the competition. Entries will be accepted from groups or individuals. Architects, planners, landscape architects, design professionals, artists, citizens, and students over 18 who are creative and advocates for a sustainable future of the City of Orlando are all encouraged to participate. Limit one entry per person or team. City Employees, Green Works Orlando Consultants and Task Force members, or sponsors are ineligible.

TO REGISTER:

There is no fee for registration. Once a completed registration form is emailed to [email protected], a number will be assigned to your submittal. Submissions without a registration ID will be disqualified. Applicants must select what category they intend to be judged – General or Student. Only college students or teams registered at a design related educational program are eligible for the Student Excellence category, however, students may choose to be judged in the General category. Each applicant or team can only be judged in one category, but not both.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

This is a digital competition and hard copy proposals will not be accepted. All submissions must be sent via email to the following address:[email protected].

Registration ID number.

Up to 2 PDF images, renderings, digital art, drawings, or similar files. File limit 5MB each. Maximum 18”x24” production size. Registration ID number must be included in all file names in the following format: xxxxx_description.pdf.

A one-page description of the Vision, with file names in the following format: xxxxx_description.doc

Names, logos, or other identification of the Team or Individual shall not be included in images.

Envision 2040 is part of Green Works Orlando, the City’s sustainability initiative to engage everyone who lives, works and visits Central Florida in the effort to “go green.”
