Local Boy Scout Raises Nearly $4,000 for Orange Sheriff’s K-9 Unit

A local boy scout and 10th grade honor student at Orangewood Christian School and member of the Boy Scouts of America Troop 200, recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout for his volunteer assistance at the Orange County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit.

Matt Young, and his fellow troop members constructed equipment for the dogs and their handlers in the agency’s K-9 Unit to train on.   Matt then decided he was going to raise money to help the Unit purchase a new dog.

During his fund raising efforts, Matt sold over 3,600 doughnuts, raising $3,700 which he plans to donate to the agency’s K-9 Unit.

On Sunday, May 22, at 2:00 PM, during his formal Eagle Scout Court of Honor, Matt will formally present the Orange County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit with a plaque and a check.  The event will take place at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 2499 North Westmoreland Drive, Orlando, Florida.
