Libertarian Elected to Town Council in Florida

A Libertarian was elected and sworn in to a Town Council in Florida.

The Libertarian Party of Florida congratulated Frederick “Thai” Heiler on his election and thanks him for representing liberty through public service at the local level. Frederick “Thai” Heiler, Vice Chair of the Libertarian Party of Brevard County, won election to the Malabar Town Council for District 4, and was officially sworn in on November 6, 2025.

“The best way to see the change you want in government, is to become involved. Lack of participation guarantees a lack of results. It’s imperative that we all participate in some manner. It is my time to volunteer,” Heiler explained. “Every position, no matter the perceived importance, is a step closer to possibly influencing the change we want. It has to start at the local level to have any success.”

Heiler’s election adds another Libertarian voice to local government in Brevard County, continuing a growing trend of Libertarians serving their communities across Florida. His win reflects the increasing recognition of practical, liberty-driven leadership at the local level.

“Thai’s election is a clear example of how Libertarians can make an immediate impact in their communities,” said Joe Hannoush, Chair of the LPF Candidates Committee. “When voters see Libertarians who are involved, accountable, and focused on solutions instead of politics, they respond with confidence and support.”

The LPF also extended its appreciation to the Libertarian Party of Brevard County for their continued work supporting local candidates and advancing liberty in their community.
