Lake County Crash Kills Driver, Passenger Critically Injured

The driver of a 2008 Dodge Charger was killed in Lake County after a semi truck turned into his direct path, Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened on State Road 19 and County Road 455, just before 9:00 a.m. on Monday.

Troopers say, George Stevens, 63, of Louisville, Kentucky, driving a semi truck, was stopped at a stop sign westbound on County Road 455, then attempted to turn left to travel southbound onto State Road 19.

Pedro Hinojosa Jr., 38, of Leesburg, who was traveling northbound on State Road 19,  struck the left trailer portion of the semi.

Hinojosa was pronounced dead at the scene by the Medical Examiner.

Jennifer M. Holder, 29, of Leesburg, traveling in the front of the Dodge Charger sustained critical injuries and was transported to the Orlando Regional Medical Center.

5-year-old Pedro Hinojosa, suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital.

Troopers say, the crash remains under investigation.
