K-9 Apprehends Masked Gunman in McDonalds Robbery

Marco Romulus Simplice - suspect

A masked gunman who pistol whipped an employee at a McDonalds restaurant early on Friday morning, is now recovering from a dog bite after being apprehended by a K-9.

Ocoee police say, 23-year-old Marco Romulus Simplice, along with another armed, masked gunman, entered the McDonalds at 11131 West Colonial Drive around 3:00 a.m.

Simplice pistol whipped an employee before forcing the manager to open the safe at gunpoint.

Police said, the second gunman forced a cashier to empty the cash drawer and collected the cell phones of all four employees, before fleeing the store in a silver Chrysler.

Cops located the getaway vehicle in the parking lot of Soong Thai at 9948 West Colonial Drive a short while later. Three men were spotted running toward a waiting car across the street in the Best Buy parking lot.

A short police pursuit ended with the vehicle crashing into a fence at the end of a cul-de-sac on St. Lawrence Street, investigators said.

Police set up a perimeter and an Orange County K-9 located Simplice hiding near the intersection of Willowwood Street and Bright Meadown Drive. He suffered a minor dog bite.

Cops found two firearms and the cash stole from the McDonalds inside the vehicle.

The second gunman remains at large.
