A circuit judge has ruled against Gov. Rick Scott and the state, finding unconstitutional a requirement that state workers have 3 percent of their pay put into their retirement.

Judge Jackie Fulford ordered the state to immediately stop the withholding.

The state had projected some $860 million would be saved from the employee contribution and the elimination of cost-of-livng adjustments, largely from current state employees.
This is a developing story. Check back later for more.

  1. Just because Rick Scott doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing regarding a balance budget doesn’t mean you have to punish State, City & County workers who have not seen a pay-raise in 4-5 years. You don’t punish 400,000 workers who have held up their end of the bargain. If your’re mad at the federal gov’t don’t take it out on the people teaching your kids, putting out fires, and going after criminals. Shame, Shame.
