Today, January 21st, after months of speculation as to when John Edwards would admit fathering a child with another woman, the former 2008 Democratic candidate and presidential aspirant, admitted that he is the father of Frances Quinn Hunter.
Edwards, who had an extra-marital affair with one of his campign workers, Rielle Hunter had previously lied about the affair, as well as, denied paternity of little two-year-old Quinn.
In a brief statement, Edwards stated, “I am Quinn’s father. I will do everything in my power to provide her with the love and support she deserves.”
Many observers have suggested that Edwards is admitting to being Quinn’s father now because, Andrew Young, a former campaign aide, is set to release a book in early February, admitting that he was offered a deal to falsely claim that he (Young) was Quinn’s father. According to Young, he was told by Edwards to obtain fake DNA results from a doctor, in support of this claim.
Meanwhile, Edwards said in his statement that it was wrong of him to deny that Quinn was his daughter and hopes one day, she would be able to forgive him.

I am Quinn’s father. I will do everything in my power to provide her with the love and support she deserves. I have been able to spend time with her during the past year and trust that future efforts to show her the love and affection she deserves can be done privately and in peace.
It was wrong for me ever to deny she was my daughter and hopefully one day, when she understands, she will forgive me. I have been providing financial support for Quinn and have reached an agreement with her mother to continue providing support in the future.
To all those I have disappointed and hurt, these words will never be enough, but I am truly sorry.
