Former Department of Community Affairs Secretary Billy Buzzett and former St. Joe Co. executive Chris Corr have been hired by the Scott administration as consultants on a project to identify future corridors for new highways and development.
The two are tasked with talking to landowners in areas where the state wants to steer future development and new transportation corridors to lay the groundwork for the state to take control of land in the corridors. The project was first reported on by The Associated Press last week.
Buzzett, who was tapped by Gov. Rick Scott to head up the DCA – which managed development – as it was being dismantled, is being paid $45,724 by the state. He works for a law firm that usually represents developers, but told the Tampa Bay Times this week he won’t represent any developers in negotiations with the state as a result of projects identified by this project. Buzzett is also a former St. Joe Co. official.
Corr is the executive vice president of AECOM, and development consulting company.
sounds like a real modification in the area, i hope this will take place soon.
