Is Orlando a Good City for Cat Lovers?

Cats aren’t for everyone, but those who love them really love them – cat people will typically put up with just about anything to keep their feline overlords happy. But where are the best places for those long-suffering friends of felines to call home, and is Orlando a good city for cat lovers?

To mark International Cat Day on August 8th, LawnStarter ranked 2022’s Best Cities for Cat Lovers. Well, Orlando isn’t just a good city for cat lovers, it’s the best – ranking at the top of the list overall.




To come up with the ranking, LawnStarter compared the 200 largest U.S. cities across 14 factors, such as vet access, cost of cat sitting, and cat-friendly rental properties.

Here are some highlights:

  • Orlando had the most cat sitters per 100,000 residents and the most cat boarding options per 100,000 residents
  • Number of Cat Cafes – 4th
  • Pet Stores per 100,000 Residents – 2nd
  • Cat-Friendly Hotels per 100,000 Residents – 2nd
  • Average State Cat Insurance Premium (as % of Average Household Income) – 52nd

“Mickey Mouse better watch out — Orlando, Florida, is the U.S. cat capital for the second year in a row,” the report stated.
