Inmate Awaiting Transport to Court Suffers Medical Event, Dies in Central Florida

An inmate who was awaiting transport to court for a scheduled hearing suffered a medical event and died in Central Florida.




The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a death investigation after the inmate died.

On April 30th at 5:25am, 71-year-old Robert Anderson, an inmate at Falkenburg Road Jail in Tampa, was awaiting transport for a scheduled court appearance when he suffered a medical event. Deputies and nursing staff immediately rendered aid before he was transported to a local hospital.

After arrival at the hospital, he was pronounced deceased at 7:33am.

The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine his cause of death. Anderson’s next of kin has been notified.

The investigation is ongoing, according to local law enforcement.
