Central Florida Inmate Found Unresponsive from Suspected Self-Inflicted Injuries

A Central Florida inmate recently died after he was found unresponsive in his jail cell from suspected self-inflicted injuries.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a death investigation after an inmate died.

Last month, 45-year-old Matthew Garon, an inmate incarcerated at Falkenburg Road Jail, was found unresponsive in his jail cell from suspected self-inflicted injuries, according to HCSO. Deputies immediately rendered aid before he was transported to a local hospital.

After arrival at the hospital, his health declined, and he was declared deceased on April 26th at 5:43am.

The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine his cause of death.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office reported Garon’s next of kin has been notified.

The investigation is ongoing, according to local law enforcement.
