Hundreds of Central Florida Beneficiaries Attend Free Shows at Dr. Phillips Center

The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts kicked off its busiest community giveback season to date at the end of October with a performance of the beloved Broadway musical Annie. Sponsored by Chick-fil-A of Greater Orlando, 100 guests gathered at the arts center for a once-in-a-lifetime theater experience.

With the highest number of giveback events to date, the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts will welcome hundreds of local beneficiaries in the 2023/2024 season.

“Annie is a story about finding your chosen family and discovering your inner strength. In this spirit, we reached out to three wonderful organizations to inspire moments of connection, with the power of theater,” said Kathy Ramsberger, President and CEO of the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. “We’re grateful to have partners who believe in providing first experiences for kids with the performing arts.”

Three nonprofit organizations attended the Annie community giveback. They received free transportation provided by GoPegasus, attended a pre-show lunch experience and took home an Annie-themed swag bag.

  • Foundation for Foster Children – A nonprofit serving children ages 0-23 in foster care by providing a comprehensive, integral tier of support that goes beyond the basic needs of wellness and safety.
  • The Finley Project – Founded to care for mothers who have experienced the unimaginable: the loss of an infant, this nonprofit provides a seven-part holistic program for grieving parents.
  • Girl Scouts of Citrus Council – The local chapter of the nationwide organization dedicated to girls, helping them explore their strengths, take on new challenges and always be themselves, regardless of background or ability.

“Chick-fil-A of Greater Orlando is thrilled to partner with the Dr. Phillips Center for this touching kickoff to the 2023/2024 community giveback season,” said Charlie Fish, Operator of Chick-fil-A of Greater Orlando. “Bringing guests in to experience the magic of Annie, engage with the story and leave with the profound impression of greatness only theater can have is beyond compare.”
