More than 250 protesters gathered downtown Orlando on Wednesday, to peacefully rally for an end to police brutality.

The marchers, who gathered at 400 W. Washington Street, made their way to the Justice Department, as they called for an end to excessive force used by police officers.

Orlando protesters join a number of other demonstrations which have taken place nationwide, sparked by the shooting death of an unarmed black teen Michael Brown by a white police officer, Darren Wilson, in Ferguson, Missouri last August. Since a grand jury failed in November to indict Wilson for the murder, protests have flared up not only in Ferguson, but in major cities across the country, including New York, Washington, D.C., and Berkeley, California.

Orlando protesters also made their way to Church Street where they did a “Die In” for 15 minutes in front of the Amway Center.

Police said, the protest was peaceful and no arrests were made.

Meanwhile, other protests against police brutality are being planned, including a rally on Friday, December 12, outside the Orange County Courthouse, 425 N. Orange Avenue, Orlando.

A National March and Rally will also take place on Saturday, December 13, at the Freedom Plaza, 13th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, in Washington, D.C.
