How Low Can You Go?

I have some friends that can drink a whole bottle of liquor and act pretty normal but give me a couple of drinks my friends will tell you two drinks is too much for Lucius Gantt.

I don’t drink much, obviously, and I also have balance issues, so any amount of alcohol may make it appears as though I was drunk.

Everybody has their own individual limit in alcohol consumption and in anything else. Everyone’s limit is different.

Recently, a Connecticut beer distributor employee apparently reached his limit regarding the verbal and other types of abuse that was perpetrated on him by his coworkers.

After a meeting with his allegedly racist employers, the Black man was asked to resign. Then he calmly got up got his gun out of a lunch box and proceeded to try and shoot every person at his job he thought should be shot.

It should be noted that he walked right past several workers but didn’t shoot people that did not bother or disrespect him.

Was this tragic moment in Connecticut the exception or a new rule? If workers are forced to work in a hostile, disrespectful, demeaning or disgusting work place, how long will it be before someone goes off on someone?

We have to understand younger people don’t solve problems the way their parents and grandparents did. There are few if any school yard fist fights now. If people think they have been “punked”, jacked or ripped off in some way they now go straight for their guns!

Think about it. What do many Americans have to live for? I guess a lot, but no one wants to live like a slave 500 hundred years after slavery. No Black man wants to have supervisors at work call him “nigger”. And nobody, Black or white, is prepared to take more than they can take!

Now, let’s be real. All of us use ethnic slurs sometimes but most of us keep that kind of talk to ourselves. We sometimes say things in the presence of family and friends, but only an idiot would risk his life by calling his coworkers the N-word and drawing pictures of hangings and nooses in the lunch room.

How much can you take? How many times will you be spoken to in a racist or disrespectful manner? How many times can your coworkers demean you, degrade you and despise you in your work place?

If it’s me, the answer is not much! How low can you go?
