As part of their Just 4 Kicks program, Orlando Orthopaedic Center Foundation is donating more than 200 pairs of shoes to homeless students in partnership with Orange County Public Schools.
WHO: Orlando Orthopaedic Center Foundation Director Jennifer Taggart, Shingle Creek Elementary Principal Laura Suprenard and Orlando Police Department representatives Lieutenant Todd Pursley, Sergeant Rhonda Childers and Shingle Creek Elementary School Resource Officer Maria Thomas
WHEN: February 22, 2013, 9:30 a.m.
WHERE: Shingle Creek Elementary School, 5620 Harcourt Ave, Orlando, FL 32839
WHY: With many parents attempting to find ways to put food on the table for their family, shoes are often the last thing on their minds. However, doctors warn that improper footwear may lead to growth problems or orthopaedic injuries in children, not to mention negative peer group ridicule. With more than 5,900 identified homeless children in Orange County alone, the Orlando Orthopaedic Center Foundation’s Just 4 Kicks program is an attempt to help these students put their best foot forward.
