The Holocaust Memorial Resource and Education Center of Florida will honor Dr. Richard Lapchick at its 2012 Dinner of Tribute on Wednesday, April 25 at 6 p.m. at the Rosen Plaza Hotel. Lapchick, often referred to as the “racial conscience of sports,” will be recognized for his humanitarian work in athletics.

Dr. Richard Lapchick

Lapchick serves as the director of the Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sports, as well as the National Consortium for Academics and Sports. He has also been endowed program chair for the DeVos Sport Business Management Program at the University of Central Florida since 2001. The Dinner of Tribute is the Holocaust Memorial Resource and Education Center’s largest annual fundraising event and is open to the public through both individual ticket sales and corporate sponsorships.

The event will also feature a special production, RESPECT – A Puppet Musical Variety Show created exclusively for the occasion. The Holocaust Memorial Resource and Education Center of Florida offers a variety of programs to combat anti-Semitism, racism and other forms of prejudice, aiming to educate the public about the Holocaust, diversity and cultural awareness. The Center is one of the oldest facilities of its kind in the nation, featuring several exhibits, archives and a research library, available to visitors free of charge.
