Combined Insurance, a leading provider of individual supplemental accident, disability, health and life insurance products, and part of the ACE Group of companies, continues its commitment to help military veterans find meaningful employment with its participation in the Hiring Our Heroes job fair on June 6, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Renaissance Orlando at Sea World in Orlando, Fla.
Continuing its effort to help reduce the military veteran unemployment rate, Combined Insurance has committed to hiring 1,000 vets. To help reach that goal, the company is further leveraging its involvement in the Hiring Our Heroes program by regularly participating in its hundreds of nationwide job fairs that are scheduled this year through local chambers of commerce, military veteran organizations and other employment support groups.
Considered a top employer of military veterans, Combined Insurance was recently ranked 8 on G.I. Jobs magazine’s 2013 Military Friendly Employer list. The annual list is made up of 100 companies that represent the top 2 percent of more than 5,000 eligible companies whose annual revenues exceed $500 million. Since 2010, Combined Insurance has helped more than 500 veterans find jobs.
“We have found that military veterans can make great employees – especially for our industry,” said Joseph Pennington, U.S. Navy retired, and military recruiting coordinator for Combined Insurance. “They are responsible, hard-working, disciplined and dedicated to helping others. We are excited and look forward to meeting with and finding some excellent candidates at the Hiring Our Heroes job fair in Orlando.”
Combined Insurance also is a member of the 100,000 Jobs Mission, a coalition of leading U.S. companies whose goal is to hire 100,000 transitioning service members and military vets by 2020, and uses other military recruiting resources such as the Transition Assistance Program (TAP) and Fleet and Family Support Centers, the Veterans Administration, state representatives and other local veteran organizations, as well as military-specific job sites like vetsuccess.gov.
Hiring Our Heroes, a nationwide initiative to help veterans and military spouses find meaningful employment, was launched in March of 2011 by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s National Chamber Foundation. Since then, the organization has helped thousands of veterans find jobs with participating companies.
