Orange County Animal Services: Adopt a Cat for Free

This June Orange County Animal Services is inviting citizens to test drive a new feline companion. The shelter is waiving the standard $40 adoption fee for their kitties who are six months and older, calling these “certified pre-owned cats.” Many of these cats were surrendered to the shelter by their previous owner, but still have plenty of love and mileage left to share.

“In the summer months we see our cat population reach its peak,” said Dil Luther, Division Manager of Orange County Animal Services. “We receive many different makes and models of cats, all of which are eager to find their forever homes. This promotion is a way of helping them out and drawing attention to cats who may otherwise be overlooked for kittens.”

Select felines will come with a “CATFAX History Report” detailing background information, if it is provided to the shelter by the previous owner. The report will include details such as cat’s compatibility with other animals and children as well as known likes and dislikes.

Each cat adoption includes spay/neuter, initial vaccinations, microchip identification, deworming, FLV/FIV test, rabies vaccination and Adoption Welcome Kit.
