The Hillsborough River went green ahead of next weekend’s Tampa’s Downtown River O’ Green event. The Tampa Downtown Partnership, Grow Financial, and City of Tampa Water Department tested the dye that will transform the river as part of the annual St. Paddy’s Day celebration.
The coloring is safe for the environment, humans, and animals. It’s non-toxic, biodegradable, meets all EPA standards, and is certified to comply with National Sanitation Foundation Standard 60 for use in and around drinking water. This is the same dye often used in eye surgeries, food, and water systems to trace the flow of drinking water.
The Tampa Downtown Partnership will host Tampa’s Downtown River O’ Green presented by Grow Financial on Saturday, March 16th, from 11:00am to 6:00pm.
The free, family-friendly festival also includes food vendors, a wide variety of beers, a pet costume contest, and plenty of fun activities. New this year, the Tampa Rough Riders are bringing their signature St. Patrick’s Parade to the streets of Downtown Tampa to coincide with Tampa’s Downtown River O’ Green.
Tampa Downtown Partnership is a private, membership-based not-for-profit 501(c)(6) comprised of companies, organizations, and individuals with a common goal of advancing Tampa’s Downtown. Through an annual contract with the City of Tampa, Tampa Downtown Partnership administers the Special Services District. In addition to Tampa’s Downtown Guides and Clean Team, Tampa Downtown Partnership serves downtown through marketing, business development, transportation, advocacy, public space activation, planning, and beautification.
