Congressman Alan Grayson (D-Orlando) said Friday afternoon, his petition against the war on Syria has been signed by over 63,000 people.
Grayson, who is adamantly opposed to U.S. military action in Syria, launched the “Don’t Attack Syria” petition (www.dontattacksyria.com), three days ago.
“The Grayson Army does not support ‘humanitarian bombing.’ The Grayson Army wants peace. Together we will defeat the resolution, and prevent another American military boondoggle,” said Grayson.
Grayson’s petition makes the simple case against military intervention in Syria. It reads, in part:
“There’s no vital national security involved. We are not the world’s policeman, nor its judge and jury. Our own needs in America are great and they come first. The death of civilians is always regrettable, and civil war is regrettable, but no Americans have been attacked, and no American allies have been attacked.”
The measure to attack Syria might pass the U.S. Senate, but observers say, its prospects in the House are grim.
