On Monday, Gov. Charlie Crist signed two new bills. One bill will allow state universities to increase tuition and the other will strengthen financing of a school voucher program.
The tuition bill, known as Senate Bill 762, authorizes universities to hike tuition rates by up to 15 percent annually until they meet the national average. As part of the bill, the Legislature has ordered state schools to immediately increase tuition rates by 8 percent.
