Gov. Crist ‘Hangs His Hat’ On More Stimulus Monies

Now Crist and his budget gurus say Florida will be the recipient of $13.4 billion, up from earlier $12.2 billion estimates. The difference comes from increases in aid to individuals that doesn’t pass through state coffers — a $25-a-week bump in unemployment compensation, for instance, together with extending those benefits means $1.3 billion more than the original estimate.
