Although elections officials in Miami-Dade County are continuing to count votes, Julio Robaina has conceded to former Miami-Dade Commissioner Carlos Gimenez in the race for the county’s mayor.
The race was close with late results showing the two only about 4,000 votes apart out of nearly 200,000 cast.
Gimenez replaces Carlos Alvarez, who was recalled.
Also in Miami, Republican Jose Oliva was officially elected – with no opposition on the ballot – to fill the House District 110 seat vacated by former Rep. Esteban Bovo.
