Lawanna Gelzer, president and CEO of LG & Associates, a management consultant company that services community-based non-profit agencies, announced her candidacy on Tuesday, for the Florida House of Representatives for the 36th District in the General Election.
Gelzer, who has over 25 years experience of providing fiscal management services to local businesses and individuals, says that her platform calls for solid measures to encourage job creation, public safety, health care, education and economic development.
“The residents of the 36th District desperately need a local leader working for them,” said Gelzer, who is involved with more than 30 organizations and has firsthand knowledge and awareness of the concerns of the district’s constituents.
Having worked with community groups such as the League of Women Voters of Orange County, Tangelo Park YMCA, Orlando’s Community Development Neighborhood Improvement Corporation, and the Mayor’s Dr. Martin Luther King Commission, Gelzer believes that she is eminently qualified to represent and help improve the lives of the people in the district, which is 43 percent African American.
One of the residents Debra Bailey, describes Gelzer as “committed and prepared to represent the needs of the residents throughout the community in Orange County.”
Gelzer, who is running on a no party affiliate ticket, is also the co-owner of Peabo Childcare Center in Orlando.
In the November elections, Gelzer will face Scott Randolph, the Democratic incumbent who has served in the Florida House since 2006. Other qualified candidates in the race are: Craig McCarthy-Republican; Larry Lamar Limbaugh-WRI; and Greg Reynolds-Republican.

I am Larry Limbaugh. This election is getting more and more interesting by the day. In these closing days of the campaign, I plan to work like a farm mule to get out the message that we need good paying jobs in Florida. Along with this, we need to protect our communities by rushing to the aid of homeowners who are deep in the water. Once these two fights have been won, then Florida is on her way to a long overdue economic boom. Will you help me?
