Police in Port Orange said Cynthia Horvath, who was serving a one-year sentence of house arrest, was chatting online with a 16-year-old boy. The chat constituted a violation of the conditions of her house arrest, authorities said.
Police said Horvath’s teen pen pal wasn’t a teenager, either. He was a Port Orange detective.
Authorities said the officer created a fictitious account after hearing from a concerned parent that Horvath had been chatting with other teenagers through the social networking site FaceBook. Officers said they were able to determine that a surprising number of teenagers were among Horvath’s FaceBook friends.
