U.S. Representative Kathy Castor called out “illegal deportations” in Tampa Bay, saying she is working with the family of her constituent.
The Tampa Democrat attacked Republican President Donald Trump, saying he is violating the law with his deportation plan.
“I am working with the family of my constituent, Frengel Reyes Mota, to help in any way I can,” Democratic Rep. Kathy Castor said in a statement. “Tearing apart this family is cruel, plain and simple. Courts have ruled that Trump is violating the law, and people are entitled to due process under the Constitution. It is wasteful and costly for Trump to generate such chaos and fail to target criminals.”
The Central Florida Representative further explained her position on immigration enforcement and the political issue playing out in Tampa and around the nation.
“Immigration enforcement must be lawful and humane, not weaponized for political stunts,” Rep. Kathy Castor said. “That means investing in smarter border security, expanding legal pathways, and protecting the rights of asylum seekers and immigrant families who contribute so much to our communities. The American people want a system that reflects our values, not one that rips families apart, violates the U.S. Constitution, and runs counter to human rights.”
