One of 17 stops along SunRail, Central Florida’s commuter rail line, Florida Hospital has begun designing their individual station stop as well as the surrounding projects that will connect with and support the rail system.
Lars Houmann, president and CEO of Florida Hospital said Monday at the kickoff event of SunRail, the hospital is a very important stop with a large number of projects and trips every day.
““Florida Hospital looks forward to setting the pace for community development and job creation through our Health Village project,” said Houmann. “Furthermore, with thousands of employees driving their cars to work at Florida Hospital today, we are committed to building strong ridership and to making SunRail a long-term success by moving cars off the road and creating a community that exemplifies Healthy 100 living.”
With several projects already under construction, Houmann also announced a new transit oriented development–a 90,000 square-foot medical official building at its SunRail station. He said the building will also serve as the headquarters for Florida Hospital and the Florida Division of Adventist Health SystembizWatch, which operates 27 hospitals.
Construction of phase one of SunRail is expected to commence within the next few weeks, with completion slated for 2013.
