Suddenly Seniors The Musical© is an original work for musical theatre, conceived, created, and produced right here in Central Florida.
This is a fun show. It’s a story for Baby Boomers, America’s largest, wealthiest, and most influential demographic, 78 million strong, spending 750 billion dollars annually. The production interprets the positive view with which this booming audience is choosing to approach and embrace the suddenly seniors realization which is now experienced by a new 50-year old every seven seconds!
This whimsically joyful story of senior realization celebrates life, at any age, with a “We’re Not Done Yet” mantra that defies the stereotypical moans, groans, and general negativity associated with advancing years. The storyline, with humorous and celebratory overtones, is punctuated with Baby Boom era musical favorites along with the unexpected and impressive addition of original music.A cast of seven authentically, coming-of-age seniors share the journey from their Sunny Vistas vantage point, the fictitious, not-so-posh, trailer park retirement community with nostalgic visuals, including a vintage, 24-foot Airstream motor home that’s the focal point of the community’s central gathering place.
Theirs is a story of discovery, one that often comes after that first AARP eligibility letter, increasing battles with gray hair, surrender to reading glasses, and the inevitable recognition that the oldies is the reminiscent, musical score to your lifetime.
It’s a story about realization, reinvention, rejuvenation, a sweet story that drives home the fact that it doesn’t matter how old you are; you’re never too old to try something new, reinvent yourself, fall in love, need your friends and spouse, or ask for help. The underlying message of happiness and hope resonates beyond the show’s obvious senior niche.
The story is defined with uplifting, inspirational moments, enhanced by melodic emotion and lyrics to deliver a transformative experience so memorable that delighted audiences leave with smiles and sing-along musical memories that transcend the 90 minute experience.
