Florida Democrats Declare ‘We’re Stronger Than We’ve Ever Been’

The Florida Democratic Party continued their “Take Back Florida” and voter registration tour with stops in Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, and St. Lucie counties. “We’re stronger than we’ve ever been,” State Senator Shevrin Jones said at the first South Florida stop in Miami Gardens.

FDP Chair Nikki Fried was joined by Senator Jones and State Representative Felicia Robinson shortly after news of the suspension of State Attorney Monique Worrell broke. In front of a fired-up crowd, Senator Jones issued a warning to Republican leadership that Democrats are united, organized, and ready for the fight.

“We are united in this moment against the attack on our democracy… and we’re stronger than we’ve ever been,” said Senator Jones.

Later that afternoon in the heart of West Kendall, FDP Chair Fried joined Commissioner Sabina Covo and supporters, declaring “we’re taking back House District 118.” The special election in the heavily Hispanic district is December 5, 2023.

As students returned back to school, Florida Democrats held a press conference in Palm Beach, the county they said is hardest hit by “GOP attacks on education” and the county with the highest number of teacher vacancies in the state.

Congresswoman Lois Frankel, State Senators Bobby Powell and Lori Berman, and Greenacres Mayor Joel Flores joined Chair Fried to call for Democrats to take back our schools by raising teacher pay and ending the culture wars that have turned our classrooms into a war zone.

On the final tour stop of the week, over 150 Democrats from along the Treasure Coast packed a venue in St. Lucie County.

The Democrats’ Take Back Florida Tour will continue with stops in Clay and Duval counties next.
