The Florida CFO awarded Lee County Sheriff’s Office millions of dollars.
Florida Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia recently visited the Lee County Sheriff’s Office to present Sheriff Carmine Marceno with over $9.8 million for immigration enforcement efforts.
“Enforcing our nation’s immigration laws has led to safer communities,” Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia said. “I want to recognize the hard work of our law enforcement partners to remove criminal illegal aliens off our streets and protect our citizens. We will continue to work alongside President Trump and Governor DeSantis to ensure that our law enforcement have the tools and training necessary to remove criminal illegal aliens from our streets.”
“Thank you, CFO Ingoglia, for your consistent support of Florida law enforcement,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said. “The funding awarded today will bolster the capabilities of my deputies to protect and serve the residents of Lee County.”
Funding is provided through the State Board of Immigration Enforcement for local law enforcement agencies that have applied for reimbursement of immigration enforcement efforts. Under the 287(g) agreement of the Immigration and Nationality Act, state and local law enforcement can partner with ICE, and bonuses are provided to law enforcement officers trained under this agreement.
As part of the Florida Cabinet, CFO Ingoglia is a member of the State Board of Immigration Enforcement. Other members include Governor Ron DeSantis, Attorney General James Uthmeier, and Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson.
