Substances containing Methylenedioxypyrovalerone – sometimes known as “bath salts” – would be banned from sale under legislation (HB 1039) approved Wednesday by the House Justice Appropriations Subcommittee.
The bill is being pushed in part by Attorney General Pam Bondi, along with local law enforcement.
The substances are already banned temporarily by an emergency rule Bondi put in place, but the bill would make them permanently illegal.
The measure now goes to the House Judiciary Committee.
