City workers in Lauderhill will be switching to a four-day workweek to try and cut costs.
Some Lauderhill city offices will close on Fridays and stay open longer Monday through Thursday. The four-day schedule, which starts Monday, does not include city personnel such as police officers, firefighters and utility workers.
The schedule change is designed to try and save taxpayers money. Mayor Richard Kaplan said city employees were willing to try out the four-day workweek, though officials haven’t estimated the potential savings yet.
Other local governments in South Florida have considered similar changes because of tight budgets and tough economic conditions.
