FHP: Girl Killed While Trying to Cross OBT

A 9-year-old girl has died, after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Orange Blossom Trail on Monday night.

Florida Highway Patrol said, 9-year-old Lisa Le, died overnight at the Arnold Palmer Hospital.

Lisa and her with mother, Cue Le, were attempting to cross OBT near Americana Boulevard, when they walked into the direct path of an SUV heading north on OBT, just before 10:00 p.m.

51-year-old Jorge Rivera Ortiz, the driver of the Ford SUV, swerved to avoid hitting Lisa and Cue Le, but the front of the vehicle struck them.

Lisa was dragged under the SUV for about 150 feet, troopers said. She was transported to the Arnold Palmer Hospital where she died overnight.

The Les were not in a cross walk while attempting to cross the road.

Troopers said, the crash remains under investigation.
