A father and his 10-year-old son were killed this morning on State Road 520, after their vehicle was hit by a box truck, Florida Highway Patrol said.
38-year-old Stacey Watters and his son, Quentin Watters, 10, were pronounced dead on the scene, following the crash near Taylor Creek Road in Orange County. A second son, Jai Watters, 9, remains in critical condition.
Troopers said, Watters was stopped at a stop sign westbound on Taylor Creek Road, when for an unknown reason he pulled into the direct path of a box truck that was traveling northbound on State Road 520.
The front of the box truck struck the left side of the 2007 Chevy Impala Watters was driving.
Watters and Quentin were pronounced dead by the Medical Examiner. 9-year-old Jai was taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital with critical injuries.
39-year-old Jaison McCray, the driver of the truck was not injured.
The family hailed from Gilbertown, Alabama.
Florida Highway Patrol said, the crash remains under investigation.
