The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), in partnership with Seminole and Volusia Counties, will host a forum for disadvantaged and minority businesses interested in Central Florida’s SunRail Commuter Rail Project. The 61-mile commuter rail line, which will link DeBary to Orlando and consists of 17 stops, is estimated to cost $1.2 billion and projected to generate 13,000 new jobs, with benefits to the region of over $1.5 billion.
The forum will take place on November 15, at The Sanford Civic Center, 401 East Seminole Boulevard, Sanford, FL, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., and targets minorities and disadvantaged businesses that desire to learn about SunRail contracts. Persons will be on hand to help participants register to do business with the Florida Department of Transportation and attendees will have an opportunity to network with prime contractors and sub-contracts on the project and find out about potential contracting opportunities.
The forum will be attended by Seminole and Volusia County elected officials, FDOT directors and personnel, minority contracting experts from the Blackmon-Roberts Group and current and prospective SunRail contractors.
