FBI Agents Begin Investigation of Trayvon’s Killing

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has begun its investigation into the Trayvon Martin killing, usnews.msnbc.com reports.

Trayvon Martin

Agents arrived Monday at the Retreat at Twin Lakes in Sanford where Martin was fatally shot by George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch captain, on February 26.

Particularly, FBI agents are trying to determine whether Zimmerman’s pursuit of Martin was racially motivated after he called 911 to alert on the teen’s presence in the gated community.

Meanwhile, there are news reports that attorneys for Martin’s parents would ask the U.S. Department of Justice to look at the role of local prosecutor Norm Wolfinger, who has stepped aside, and his interactions with police following the teen’s killing.

Last week it was reported that the lead investigator requested an arrest warrant for Zimmerman, but Wolfinger’s office held off as it was felt that there was insufficient evidence for a successful prosecution.

A special prosecutor, Angela Corey was appointed by Gov. Rick Scott to investigate Martin’s killing. Corey could make a determination on the case before the Grand Jury meets on April 10.

  1. I find this shooting very strange. It needs complete investigation before sentencing Zimmerman with second decree murder. It must have been difficult to fight off a 6’3 feet man to get a bloody nose. It looks like that Zimmerman tried to protect this area completely with the best of his ability but he was a rookie. Zimmerman failed procedure . There had to be more to this whole incident then detected yet. I think Martin had something to hide and provoked the shooting. Check out his past in South Florida. Yet, this is just a good guess. Let the authorities investigate all and do not favor black or white. There are still whites left not only blacks in USA. We will have to live together
