Father, Son Found Deceased in Apparent Central Florida Murder-Suicide

A father and son were found deceased in an apparent Central Florida murder-suicide.

Volusia County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating an apparent murder-suicide incident in Deltona. On Sunday morning, deputies responded to a report of two people found deceased in a home on Sumatra Ave.

The deceased were identified as 55-year-old Daniel Demarco and his son, 34-year-old Travis Demarco.

The investigation indicates Travis Demarco fatally shot his father, then himself.

Through interviews, detectives learned that Travis had been dealing with mental health issues, including a serious condition that was officially diagnosed earlier this year.

His father had expressed concerns about his son’s mental state and behavior and was helping him receive treatment and medication.

The bodies were discovered by another resident of the house around 11:30am Sunday, after Daniel didn’t respond to attempts to contact him by phone.

The investigation is continuing, according to local law enforcement. The Sheriff’s Office extended its sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
