A father was recently indicted for murder in his son’s death that happened in Kissimmee.
An Osceola County grand jury formally indicted 25-year-old Larry Rhodes for First Degree Murder, two counts of Aggravated Child Abuse and four counts of Child Abuse for the murder of his son in Central Florida and the felony abuse of his other children.
On July 5, 2022, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office responded to a hotel in Kissimmee for a reported drowning. Deputies arrived and found an unresponsive young boy. The child later died at the hospital.
Investigators determined the boy died from injuries sustained from child abuse and found evidence other children in the hotel room suffered from physical abuse and neglect.
This month, the State Attorney Andrew Bain’s office presented sufficient evidence to a grand jury to secure an indictment against Rhodes for First Degree Murder, two counts of Aggravated Child Abuse and four counts of Child Abuse.
