Fatal Jet Ski Crash Near Caladesi Island, Dunedin Causeway Investigated

On March 16th, Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a single jet ski accident near Caladesi Island and the Dunedin Causeway at approximately 10:55am.




According to deputies, 60-year-old Gary Nolan was traveling on his 2017 Sea-Doo Personal Watercraft northbound along the east side of Caladesi Island, towards the Dunedin Causeway.

Nolan was approaching Hurricane Pass Channel when the watercraft ran aground on a sandbar. Deputies say Nolan was ejected over the handlebars, knocking him unconscious and causing facial trauma.

Nolan was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Next of kin has been notified.

According to deputies, alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.

The investigation continues according to local law enforcement.
