Central Florida Man Arrested for Armed Drug Trafficking

A Central Florida man was arrested and charged with armed trafficking in cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, MDMA, and possession of multiple guns and ammunition by a convicted felon.




On March 12th, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team and detectives with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Bureau executed a lawful search warrant at a residence on Myer Avenue Leesburg, Lake County, Florida. Agents with Homeland Security and detectives from the Mount Dora, Eustis, Leesburg, and Clermont Police Departments assisted with the investigation.

As the SWAT Team secured the residence, 13 individuals were located at the residence. As detectives began searching the residence, large amounts of various narcotics and firearms were located within the residence.

The total combined weight of narcotics seized from the residence was:

  • Approximately 1 pound of cocaine
  • Approximately 6 oz of methamphetamine
  • 15 grams of fentanyl (in powder form and pill capsules)
  • 40 grams of MDMA
  • A small amount of marijuana
  • Drug paraphernalia

A total of seven firearms were seized from the residence, including two rifles, one shotgun, and four pistols. Furthermore, the serial number had been removed from one of the pistols.

As a result of this investigation, Walter J. Canady was arrested and charged with armed trafficking in cocaine over 400 grams, armed trafficking in methamphetamine over 28 grams, armed trafficking in fentanyl over four grams, armed trafficking in MDMA over ten grams, possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Canady was not given a bond due to the large number of narcotics and firearms located within the residence.

Additionally, Gabriella Partridge was arrested for an active warrant for VOP possession of cocaine and possession of MDMA, and Rosa Taylor was arrested for an active warrant for grand theft $5,000-$10,000, and Taylor G. Estrill was issued a misdemeanor summons for possession of drug paraphernalia.
