Elderly Man Dies in Crash in Osceola County

A 72-year-old Poinciana man died on Thursday, after he pulled into the direct path of a pick-up truck on Old Pleasant Hill Road near Cypress Parkway in Osceola County.

Troopers said, Enrique Lopez, 72, of Poinciana was at a stop sign on Old Pleasant Hill Road when for an unknown reason he pulled into the direct path of a Ford pick-up driven by 22-year-old Chad Kersey, of Kenansville, as he attempted to make a left turn.

The front of Kersey’s pick-up struck Lopez’s Chrysler on the left side. After the initial impact, the front of a Toyota, driven by 18-year-old Emma Pineda of Kissimmee, struck the rear of the pick.

Lopez was taken to Osceola Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Kersey and Pineda suffered minor injuries.

The crash happened just before 1:30 pm, on Thursday.

Florida Highway Patrol said, the crash remains under investigation.
