Elderly Man Dies After Brutal Attack on Atrium Circle

One of two men attacked last Friday, in what investigators believe was a robbery, has died.

59-year-old Hasan Raza died from blunt force trauma to the head after he was battered near 2497 Atrium Circle, off north Pines Hills Road.

Orange County Sheriff’s investigators believe Raza and 62-year-old Habeeb Naqui were attacked by a person (or persons), as they were on their nightly walk around 10:30 p.m..

Raza and Naqui were beaten and the suspect(s) then fled on foot.  A motorist who was passing by witnessed the attack and called 911.

Investigators arriving on the scene found one of the victims, later identified as Naqui walking aimlessly on the street and unable to provide any investigative information. The second victim, Raza was lying on the sidewalk with head trauma and unconscious.

Raza and Naqui were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center.  Naqui was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators believe that the motive was robbery.

This investigation is ongoing.
