The man who Florida Highway Patrol say caused a crash at a day care in Winter Park, resulting in the death of a 4-year-old, turned himself into authorities on Thursday afternoon.

Robert Alex Corchado, 28, turned himself in just after 4:00 p.m. and was booked into the Orange County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

On Wednesday, an arrest warrant was issued for Corchado, who investigators say, rear-ended another vehicle near the KinderCare Learning Center at 4035 Goldenrod Road, causing it to slam into the building. The Toyota Solara which was hit from behind struck several children inside the building resulting in the death of 4-year-old, Lily Quintus.

Corchado fled the scene of the crash and the Durango he was driving was found abandoned in the drive way of a home off Aloma Avenue. He then rented a Mazda SUV from Enterprise Rent a Car in Winter Park and authorities feared Corchado was attempting to leave the area.

According to reports, Corchado was arrested last year on charges of careless driving, hit-and-run and leaving the scene of damaged property.

About a dozen kids were taken to four local area hospitals, including Arnold Palmer Hospital for children, following the crash. On Thursday, Arnold Palmer said one patient was in critical condition, two were in serious condition, one was listed in fair condition, another in good condition and two had been discharged, according to reports.

A gofundme.com page has been established to assist the Quintus family. A goal of $10,000 was set but has been long surpassed and to date, $23,325 has been raised.

A note from Groveland Fire Rescue on gofundme.com reads:
