Regina Hill Shakes Up District 5 Election

Regina Hill expresses her sincere gratitude to her voters for making their voices heard at the April 8, 2014 City of Orlando Commissioner District 5 election.  She is asking that they turn out again to vote for her at the run-off election on May 6, 2014.

As a first time candidate with few resources, name recognition and a limited budget, Regina Hill came in second at the polls with only a 37 vote difference compared to Attorney Juan Lynum (who raised $32,950.00 compared to Regina Hill’s $7,806.19).

On April 9, 2014 Attorney Juan Lynum told Orlando Sentinel reporters that he was shocked that someone with Regina Hill’s background would garner so much support. Lynum stated, “The community needs to understand the consequences of having someone like Regina in office.”

Despite Juan’s assessment, Regina Hill’s supporters in District 5 believe that she is the ‘somebody’ that their district needs as an advocate.

Regina responds by saying, “I am grateful and humbled by those who support me. This is more than a campaign; it is a movement.  I am thankful to those who voted at the polls for me. I am also grateful to those who lost their rights to vote yet asked their family members to vote for me at the polls. My supporters included people who live inside and outside of District 5. Collectively, they donated time and resources to help me fight for a better District 5. Together we will continue to build a coalition to fight for jobs, on behalf of the homeless, affordable housing, for training programs and adequate resources to benefit the people of District 5.”

Help Regina Hill continue to shake up the system by voting for her at the run-off election on May 6, 2014. A vote for Hill is a vote for you!
