Driver killed in high-speed crash on State Road 429

 

highspeed2The driver of a Mazda, speeding southbound on State Road 429, died in a two-car crash after he lost control of the vehicle, Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened on State Road 429 near mile marker 20, around mid-night on Saturday.

Troopers said, the 33-year-old Orlando driver crossed the center median and traveled into the northbound lanes.  The driver, who have not been identified by troopers, struck a Kia SUV heading northbound.

The Mazda driver was taken to Health Central where he was pronounced dead.

Philip Joeckell III, 45, of Clermont, who was driving the Kia SUV, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center.

Troopers said, the crash remains under investigation.
