An Ormond Beach man was killed on Saturday night, after losing control of his vehicle, Florida Highway Patrol said.
The crash happened just after 11:30 p.m., on State Road 40 near Airport Road in Volusia County.
Troopers say, the driver, 46, of Ormond Beach, who has not yet been named, was traveling westbound on State Road 40, when for an unknown reason, he lost control of the Volkswagen he was driving. The vehicle traveled into the center median, struck a tree and overturned onto its roof in the eastbound lanes, troopers also said.
Shortly after, Tina Meyer, 41, traveling eastbound on State Road 40, who was unable to see the Volkswagen because of its position, struck its left side.
The driver of the Volkswagen was pronounced dead on the scene by the medical examiner.
Troopers are trying to determine whether or not alcohol played a role in the crash, which is still being investigated.
